Computer can be used to play multiple multimedia file formats, but they can there can be conflict between web browser and operating system. The computer needs correct codec for a file format to play any video or music file. Google created GVI, a multimedia file format that was able to play video files.

1. GVI is a Audio Video Interleave file that is known as a Resource Interchange File Format. Similar to the usual AVI files, GVI files also has an extra list with a 4-character code which can identify the video codec, format or color which is used in the media file.

2. GVI file which was created by Google is capable of opening automatically in Google’s Video Player. While searching through the Google, GVI file hyperlink can be clicked and accessed the GVI files directly like a AVI-based file type.

3. A GVI file can be easily converted into a regular AVI file. The file also has the compatibility with most of the players such as Windows Media Player, VLC Player and other media players.
