TDMA or time-division multiple access is a technology that is used in cell phones such as T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Nextel and other communication companies. TDMA helps to increase efficiency of the network and also allows numerous simultaneous transmissions at one time.

1. TDMA phone uses time-division multiple access where the frequency band has been divided into several channels. The frequency in multiple channels can share a single channel without interference. It also enables multiple devices to share same frequency band by allowing the device to take turns while sending the digital data.

2. TDMA is a process of transmitting digital signals on the radio waves and it is also used in several communication devices like GSM, PDC and in the DECT standard for mobile phones. It is also used in the satellite systems as well as combat-net radio systems.

3. The GSM will combine TDMA along with frequency hopping which is a process of sending radio signals by switching the carrier in different frequency channels with a pseudo-random sequence.

4. TDMA is known to be a good digital system which is used in most of the communication devices. But it has no flexibility for varying digital date rates. It does not provide silence during a phone conversation.
