PCS offers mobile phone service all over the United States. Cell phones have been using cell towers to transfer calls in certain frequency ranges known as bands.

1. The cell phone band known as 800-894 MHz was used by most of the corporate cell users as well as auto makers in the 1990s.

2. The popularity of 800-894 MHz band caused lot of problems during communication which led to the decision from FCC to provide the 1900 MHz band to mobile phones.

3. The 1900 MHz band is known as PCS or Personal Communications Service band. The cell phones must feature PCS technology to use PCS network which has been designed with densely populated towers compared to the other cell network.

4. Most of the phones have been made to use whatever band that is available in your area such as dual-, tri-, and quad-band phones.
