1. First look at the header information in the email as few email clients will disable it by default which can be viewed from the menu. In an Outlook Express, got to View and then enter Options to view the headers of the email.

2. There will be 2 lines on the header information next to Received field which will be from the mail server and other will be from sender’s mail server. You can find out the sender by recognizing the second server’s domain.

3. The IP address in the header next to Received field can provide help to recognize the server. It will be the address used by the sender on his computer.

4. There are many reverse IP lookup website that can help to trace the IP address. You can just right-click in the IP field and paste the copied IP address to get the information about the IP addresses registrant.
