Remote Disk is sharing software which will be available as a default in every modern Mac computer. Remote Disk on a MacBook can be used to play CDs or DVDs in case the optical drive is broken. Here are few ways to use a remote disk on your Macbook.

1. Go to Apple menu to access System Preferences and select Sharing such as DVD or CD Sharing. Open Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter two command lines such as defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser EnableODiskBrowsing -bool true and defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser ODSSupported -bool true.

2. Next restart the MacBook and turn on DVD or CD Sharing in which the MacBook is using the Remote Disk. Then access Network in the Finder’s Go menu and select other name of your Mac from the list.

3. Press Connect by entering the password along with user name. Select a DVD or CD which want to play using Remote Disk which will appear on the desktop that can be played.
